Rodinal is a fabulous neg developer if and only if you have a gentle
touch and are detail oriented.  Seriously.

First, the dilution is 1:25 or 1:50, not an easy dilution when working
with 300mL of chemistry...and you really need to be accurate.

Second, it is quite temperature sensitive.

Third, it is very very very sensitive to over-agitation

Fourth, if you overprocess with it (by messing up one of the first
three), it looks like absolute hell, grainier than you can possibly imagine.

I know some guys who do great work with Rodinal.  I used to be a big fan
of it before I got my Jobo, but my Jobo's rotation speed control won't
go low enough for me to get a good result with Rodinal.

Anyhow, it's quite good if you're picky enough to be able to use it.
