Hi!
My monitors are 1024X768 as well. What I do on a Mac is drag the pic
straight from the web browser window and drop it onto the desktop. Then I
double-click on that new icon on my desktop and it opens the pic in a
simple picture-viewing utility application as large as the screen will
allow, without cropping it - so I can see it full frame.
I don't know if this would work under Windows, but it may help?
Cotty, you should stop boasting about how good Macs are ;-). We, mere
Windows pedestrians do the same sometimes, it just takes us few more
clicks and at times even some incantations ;-).
Please notice the smileys.

Mac users don't have an exclusive in this case. I actually just tried this
on my Windows XP system, and it works for me as well. My windows system is
programmed to open JPEG images with the "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer",
which I think it the default configuration for Windows systems. Sure, I
have advanced image editors installed, but I don't have them associated
with the JPEG file type. The Picture and FAX viewer is great for just
taking a quick look at a JPEG, GIF, BMP, or even a TIFF image.
Come to think of it, it will even open Pentax RAW images, in the PEF
format. I found a plugin for Windows somewhere on the internet which
extends Windows and adds support for the PEF format. I would recommend it
to any Windows XP user with a Pentax digital camera. I can even look at a
directory in Windows Explorer, and see PEF thumbnails, thanks to this FREE
plugin.
take care,
