It might help to know what your main subjects are. I've just spent my
first weekend with my new *istDS. I'm impressed but certainly not over
the moon. Yes, the smooth sky is nice but that's not everything. While
sharpness and detail are OK in some shots and not in others, my main
problem is with out-of-focus areas which look mostly awful.

Two things are sure: My LX and the Minolta 5400 give me way more detail
and resolution and digital those nightshots of my industrlal sites will
have to wait for another digital camera generation or two.

I will be shooting less film - if only for convenience or rather
lazyness - but I certainly won't be able to abandon it.

YMMV
