How many MB of data in a small format CCD or CMOS-3? 6?
Even interpolated, it only works out to 12 MB or so. 

Some 1 pass medium format digital backs can do up to 20 MB (raw).

In any case, a 24 x 36 negative/slide has gobs more data than a small format 
CCD/CMOS.
