Hi Ann, I have the 2000P and it is the third time that I`ve been
getting the yellow band. I called the tech support and they say
to try:
1:) Shut down the computer, unplug the power supply cord,
boot up the computer, wait five minutes, then plug the power
supply cord (the black one) back in, and start the program
again.
2:) Reload the software if number 1 does not work.
Does it sound like I got it memorized?
 If 1 and 2 don`t work, then it`s history. I`m very unhappy
with UMAX personally. My first unit worked for 7 months,
sent it in to get fixed under warranty, then it lasted another
6 months (one month after warranty expired, of course),
I pulled teeth to get them to replace it, but they did. Now
it is doing the same thing again after only 4 months.
Granted it is not a top dollar scanner, but shouldn`t it last
more than 6 months? The other nice thing is that the tech
support does not have a toll free number, and you can be
on hold for 5 minutes to the east coast (I`m on the west
coast). Needless to say, my next scanner will not be UMAX,
and I need one now, because I`m getting the dreaded yellow
bands, along with some pretty green bands.

I hope yours will work again.
