I had the same thing happen to my 1220p except it went green and yellow
instead of just yellow.  Since I only paid about US$100 for the
scanner, and an HP 3300 was available for less that US$100, and I was
so disgusted that the 1220p went to pieces exactly two weeks after the
1 year warranty was up, I just upgraded to the HP. :-)  My guess is
that repairs would be more expensive than a new scanner.
