Yup.. every "zoom" I've owned has changed focus slightly from wide to long. I use a simple solution for fixed subjects: focus at the long end and pray that greater DOF as I zoom wider will compensate. I'm pleased with this simple approach using the 3 zooms I still own. But I have never printed larger than 8x10; I do a lot of 5x7s. Your milage may vary.
