If I can be allowed a self-promotional minute, last year I co- authored The Complete Idiot's Guide to Digital Photography Like a Pro. I didn't write the overly long title!! I honestly think it is a great introductory text on digital imaging. I've noticed lots of book stores like Barnes & Noble don't pull old editions off the shelf when a new one comes out, and many are still selling the 3rd edition, which is now seriously out of date.
