Sounds like the symptoms of a bad battery pack.  Mine worked just fine 
for the first year or so that I had it, then the battery pack started to 
go and both my LXen started exhibiting that problem, if it had been only 
one I'd have thought it was the camera.  It's funny but the winder still 
worked fine.  (Someday I'll have to re-battery the power packs).
