It's even mentioned several places on this thread that they were produced until 2004. I doubt that none have been manufactured after that when the model is listed on the distributor's list and several shops claim to have it in stock - especially if there was a shortage last year.
But I suppose people are confusing a (possibly temporary) production halt with discontinuation of the model. I bet that most "current" Pentax equipment is out of production right now, but that does not mean that it will never be produced again.
