Yes it can, if you are in a program mode.  If you are totally manual, you
have to adjust both the shutter speed and the aperture.  I also find the
thumb wheel better placed on the PZ-1p than the select wheel on the MZ-S.
The select wheel does not spin as smoothly for me.  It doesn't make the MZ-S
bad, I was just commenting on a difference for those who want to get a
comparison between them.
