That depends on your point of view. If the US had (a lot) fewer people then we 
wouldn't have to import oil, gasoline would be cheaper, states wouldn't have so 
many problems with water supply, our forests wouldn't be vanishing, we wouldn't 
have so many species on the brink of extinction, building lots wouldn't be 
prohibitively expensive  etc etc etc.
