A problem seldom mentioned with the "shutter tap" method of MLY is that once you tap, the shot is committed; you can't get the mirror down without taking a picture. The KX might be your best bet for doing MLU-type shots on a budget. The KX will lock up the mirror AND stop down when you use the MLU lever.
