Ouch. Sorry to hear that, Mike. What (if any) feedback did he
have? When I'm looking to buy expensive items on eBay, I generally only
do so if the feedback rating looks good. That's the plan, anyway... some
of the best BIN's can come from people who aren't familiar with camera
equipment and who may not have accumulated much feedback. I've only been
ripped off once by a seller, and it was for a relatively inexpensive
(non-Pentax) item. Their communication was horrible, and I wound up
giving them so much time to try and resolve the matter that I was no
longer able to do anything through eBay. Live and learn...
I second the people who wouldn't mind a link to the auction page to see an
example of a scam auction. Again, sorry to hear about your bad luck. :(
