My very first camera was a secondhand box camera, but the first real one was a Werra 1, when I was about 14. It didn't have a rangefinder or lightmeter, so a lot of guesswork was needed. As I took mostly slides then, it was amazing the number that turned out ok. I saw a couple of the more advanced Werra models at a camera fair recently, so I guess there are still a few about.
