Sorry, but this is not how it works. The linkages is not regarded a feature 
that can be sold to the customer. It is an expense that do not increase 
sales but decrease profit. Eg the SR feature probably double or quadruple 
the potential sales of the K100D; very much worth the added cost.
None of the competition offers more extended backwards compatibility than 
Pentax anyway so it is very likely that Pentax doesn't feel they are loosing 
anything by removing the linkage.
