Now, I'm going to get flamed for even suggesting this, but...

What would be useful for the digest would be an HTML version. The
index of topics at the top would link to the messages below. That way
it would be easy to skip through the mess of headers, quoted headers,
etc.

You would have to filter the incoming mail to the list in order to not
allow html in though, since a quoted digest in that situation would
have catastrophic results.

I guess it would be very similar to reading the archives directly, but
those are not too quickly updated, sometimes there's a day or more of
delay there.

j, who hates html mail but thinks it can be good in a controlled
situation
