Let's see, did he say that before WWII when almost no adults in the US rode bicycles, durning WWII when many rode out of necessity, after WWII when adults never would be caught on one in fear that others would think they could not afford an automobile, or in the 70's and later when bicycles became a high tech fad? He wasn't around in the 1880's when it was a wild wild craze.
