Ann,

Those red squares mimic the superimposed AF points in viewfinder. That 
picture is meant to highlight that 11 AF points can be usefull for such kind 
of shooting, meaning you can use AF, set a given AF point, frame and follow 
your subject's movements for a while before releasing the shutter.
I do that most of the time, despite many think that Pentax AF cannot 
autofocus in low light ;-)
