Yes, it does sound aggressive.  Is that better or worse than elitist?  The  
fact is that shooting RAW gives you better pictures.  Shooting JPEG is  
like buying a Ferrari and driving at 30mph.

If that's what you want to do, fine.  But why not save the money and buy a  
Nissan?

And incidentally, to answer your question, I would hope that people would  
shoot RAW in order to get the best out of their equipment.  That's called  
altruism, not elitism.
