The type of connection (SATA or ATA) does not matter speedwise Boris, it's
the (empty) new harddisk that makes the difference :-)

Thanks, Markus, this is very valuable suggestion.

I have two hard disks (120 and 160 GB or so), but both are older ATA
models. Having a S-ATA connection in my box made me think I should buy a
S-ATA disk for speed. I may end up doing both - upgrading the memory and
adding a disk.

Thanks!

Boris
