If you're using a lens which does not supply FL information to the  
camera, you do not need to power cycle the camera to set the FL. Just  
use the Menu -> Record section, last page, command "Shake Reduction"  
and set the focal length whenever you please.

It's the last command on the last page of the Record menus. Fast way  
there: hit the Menu button and the up arrow on the controller.

I don't use manual focus zoom lenses much, but I have been playing  
with the Pentax-A Rear Converter 2x-S and the DA70mm and DA50-200  
lenses. Seems to do a very respectable job. I set SR to 135mm with  
the DA70 and it works beautifully.
