David, if you ever find something on how to reset the counter please post here. My 220 is doing the same thing, although I am still able to print so far. Eventually it will refuse, I guess. In the meantime I do have the 1800 and it is almost new. I did a quick look on the web and only found places that would sell you epson manuals, but no source for changing the counter or a source for parts.
