Thanks for the advice everyone. The collectible aspect is a "red" herring (as opposed to a gold and snakeskin LX one!!) unless you keep it unused in the unopened box.
I'm off tomorrow to look at a K10 refurb with 12 months Pentax guarantee for £370. Guess I can download the latest version of the software myself.
