C-41 is a standardized process, and is also pretty bombproof. However, all
minilab printing is done on colour paper and it is very difficult to not get
a slight colour cast on monochrome, and it can take several runs to get the
colour just right.
This is something that is outside the mandate of discount photo labs such as
a Wal-Mart, so you need to find a printer who is both skilled and interested 
in making sure the work is just right.
You have as good a chance at finding that at a Wal-Mart as anywhere else.
I've seen very good results from chromogenic film, and then very bad results 
from the same film within a matter of hours.
