I do not have experience submitting digital photos to a newspaper, but I do
know that most such photos have been taken with a 2000-2500 ppi SLR such as
the Kodak DCS *20 series or the Canon D30. In fact the old AP2000 was a 2000
ppi Camera (historical note: The AP2000 was made for the Associated Press by
Kodak. It is the ancestor of all the Kodak DCS Cameras).

133 line screen for a newspaper? My how quality has improved over the years.
I would have thought that newsprint paper could not sustain such a fine
screen.

But your math is fine, your image needs 1.5 to 2.0 times the resolution of
your halftone screen.
