Here's a repost of mine from a couple of weeks ago: I spent a few hours at the Photo Plus Expo yesterday.When I arrived at the show I headed straight for the Pentax booth. I asked the guy at the Optio counter Pentax guy about putting a digital back on the MZ-S. He told me that Philips had made the chip for the back, and that in January, prototypes of the 35mm and digital MZ-S were shown. The digital was supposed to be available at the same time as the 35mm, but a bug was found in the chip, and for them to have it ready in time would have added $2,000 to the price of the camera, so they couldn't do it. The next generation of the MZ-S should have a digital version available. The guy told me that Contax and other manufacturers were supposed to get the same Philips chip, so they got screwed as well. --Amita - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
