Nope, the film surface is *not* a medium grey... not AFAIK anyway. The LX's black-and-white shutter curtains average out to be roughly medium grey, so the exposure you see in the viewfinder is the recommended shutter speed for the availalbe light, assuming that your subject is a medium grey. Film surfaces can vary by more than a stop in terms of reflectivity, so it's possible that the difference in times (assuming that the light remains constant) can be attributed to the reflectivity of the film itself differing from the medium grey of the shutter pattern. chris - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
