I also had problems with the Pentax installer for PPB/PPL v3.5 which came with my K20D - it seems to be broken. I called Pentax but their support technician was clueless so I had to figure it out for myself. The good news is that you can deal with the problem by opening the installer package using the "Show Package Contents" command in the right-click menu. Then you need to find the package INSTPUT035 via the path Contents>Resources>OSX>INSTPUT035. The two programs PPB and PPL are within INSTPUT035. Open it using the "Show Package Contents " command again and simply copy them to your application folder. (I keep mine in a folder labeled " PENTAX Digital Camera Utility", which is the folder the installer would generate if it were working.) The bad news is that these programs are still buggy in operation - they tend to crash a lot. Save early and save often...
