============== I have storage paranoia like you do. Probably the best thing to do is, back up to CDs/DVDs, two copies, keep on hard disk. Then go in in one to three months or so and see if one can get photos off CDs/DVDs. Usually, for me, if a disc is bad, it is bad from the beginning.
