FWIW - years ago I got frustrated with the lack of Pentax stuff in stores in
the Detroit ares.

I called the Pentax district sales guy who handled Detroit. He was located
in a suburb N.W. of Chicago. He was well aware of the situation in the
Detroit area. Pentax reps couldn't compete with the Nikon/Canon reps. In one
large camera shop near my work location, if I wanted a Pentax camera/lense,
they'd order it for me after I paid in full for it. If I didn't like it when
it arrived they wouldn't give me my money back.
The district sales guy offered to help me & over the years as I wanted
something Pentax, he'd ship it to me & I could either keep it or ship it
back no questions asked.
