Hi, John.

I currently have an Energizer E387S in my SP500. It's a perfect fit (it
even has the little plastic ring already on it). Since most of the
Spotmatics have a bridge circuit, voltage differences won't matter.
This is not true for the F, Electro, ES or ESII. I get my batteries
from http://www.swatchbattery.com/ since I can rarely find them locally.

Take a look at http://photoethnography.com/ClassicCameras/batteries.html

I'll also second the recommendation to join the Yahoo Spotmatic group.
As soon as you're in, you'll get a series of email messages with several
documents attached. One of them will be the battery list. Alternately,
their files are available at their Yahoo site. If you'd like, I can
email the battery list to you directly. Just let me know.
