It's hard to say if there is K20D sample variation without doing actual side-by-side comparisons. My "no resistance" might be Bill's "slight resistance." Nevertheless, I found that I got used to the position where the K20D activates autofocus without thinking about it. It's there whether one feels it or not. And with a lot of shooting it becomes quite natural. My K10D now feels a bit stiff, BTW. But that's because I rarely use it.
