I'm doing less than expected mainly because circumstances have conspired against me. I took my camera with me on a little cycling trip a few weeks ago, but when it came time to get off and take some pictures I found the battery had drained, and I didn't have a spare. I had previously switched it so that it wouldn't time out, and I forgot to unswitch it, then the on/off switch was knocked on.
After that I had planned some walking in the countryside, but that had to be cancelled because of an ear infection and consequent medical appointments which meant I couldn't go away. Since then my PC has been playing up. While trying to diagnose the problem I disconnected the hard disk on which I store my photos, and I haven't reconnected it yet. Psychologically this has somehow switched photography off for me temporarily. I'll have to reconnect it this weekend because next week I'm supposed to be doing some shots to accompany a magazine article a friend is writing. High fuel prices don't affect me directly since I've mostly given up on cars. There's more enjoyment to be had from travelling by train and bicycle. Cycling in the countryside is a great way to experience it, and I see far more and feel far more part of it from a bike than from a car. The British countryside lends itself to cycling very well, and cycling lends itself to landscape photography very well.
