Welcome James. I can't help you much about the various 50mm lenses since the only one I have is an F50/1.7 and I don't use it as often as I should.
Interesting that you came over from the Oly list. My first SLR was an OM-10 and I recently waxed nostalgic and picked one up on ebay with the manual adapter and 50/1.8. Just shot most of a roll of TMax 3200 with it tonight at my son's first concert as a band director using a Kiron 70-210/4.5.
