Boris, this D155/1.4 isn't there nor designed to replace any standard 50mm lens. It is designed (and marketted) as a replacement for the FA*85, taking into account the crop factor. It is optimized for bokeh and portrait use which really isn't the intended job of our common 50mm.
I agree however that a 35/1.2 or /1.4 is in need although the FA35 still does a very nice job AFAICT.
