Sauvage, fauve, wild, Wildean. Just as Godard deconstructed narrative within the confines of neo-spatial preconceptualism, so Savage examines the world of 'espace nouvelle' outwith the notions of Oz and the tradition of the fauves, amusingly relocated to the arena of antipodeanism. Playing jeux d'esprit with nomenclature and the functional, self-identifying namespace, Savage follows Wilde in the witty juxaposition of 'parole' versus auteur to analyse subcultural rationalism and to challenge Baudrillard's previously unchallengeable subpatriarchal determinism in ways that anticipate newly-gendered futurist paradigms.
