That's my only quibble with Lightroom: I can't just browse and convert, I have to import images into its database first. I use Lightroom as the cornerstone of my workflow, but I do wish it would give me the option of occasionally converting a raw file without importing it (and thereby making me remove it from the database when I'm done).

It's funny that one of the major features that I love about Lightroom is something that others find to be a pain.

Oh, it's also one of the major features *I* love about Lightroom. I just wish they'd make it optional. All my real work is archived and keyworded in my Lightroom database.

The importing for me is just a minor step.

It still gets annoying when you have to do it unnecessarily for images frequently. And then go into the database and delete the "temporary" images afterward. I had to do it twice last night for a project and it's irritating.
