I would bet it is pretty dry in your house. That causes a lot of static on the slide that holds the dust in place like a magnet. My experience is that when the humidity is 60% or so the dust pretty much blows off with compressed air. Short of humidifying the house you might try one of those anti-static gizmos, there used to be several on the market.
