I think the SDM lenses in general are not much faster than the old FA* used to be. Maybe a bit slower. The real benefit of SDM is the quietness. That said, I think the 60-250 is on par with the DA* 300/4 if that means anything. I believe the focus motor has a good deal of glass to shuffle about. But I haven't really concentrated on this aspect, I'm sorry. Tomorrow is Saturday, so maybe then.
