And here I was being a turnip and connecting "dayton" in your host name
to Ohio.  Silly me.

Per both the Sibley and the Smithsonian guides, the bicolored (no
yellow) blackbird is a regional sub-species of the red-winged blackbird,
rather than being its own distinct species.  (Since the amount of yellow
varies regionally over the whole *large* range of red-winged black
birds.)

So it's a red-winged either way; it's a just a local, special
red-winged. :)
