I believe Godfrey ran some comparisons, and found a later 28-105
(f3.5 at the short end) to be a somewhat better lens overall.

I bought the PZ 28-105 in '95 when I bought my PZ-1p, and it's
still in my regular lens kit (although the 50-135 is making inroads).
One thing I really like about the 28-105 is the close focussing.
