Two reasons:  I'm not familiar with the lens, so I didn't even think
about it and I don't know anyone who has a sample that I can borrow. 
Perhaps a third reason is that I'd have to return it, and sometimes I
get sidetracked with details like that, so I wouldn't want to borrow
anything unless the lender knew that it might be a while before it was
returned, or that they may have to remind me about it once or twice.  I
know my weaknesses. <g>
