Never had a problem with the magic needles thing. My first SLR has been a MX
and I've done quite a lot af astrophotography with it in the early days.
Changing rolls in the dark has never been a problem for me, as there was no
need to look for film slots in the take-up spool. Just push the leader into
any magic needles and it's done!
