I had a few minutes between calls this afternoon so I popped into a chain bookstore and wandered up to the photographic book section. I pulled out a book called The Contact Sheet by Steve Crist.
It was awesome! It took a look at some well-known photos (and some that I wasn't familiar with) by some very well-known photographers. The photographers talked about the individual photo and the shoot in general. Accompanying each photo was the entire contact sheet from that roll. Fascinating! I only had the chance to look through about 1/4 of the book, but of that portion the highlight was Elliott Erwitt (one of my all-time heroes) with his photo of Marilyn Monroe reading: http://images.artnet.com/artwork_images_425142478_554036_elliott-erwitt.jpg cheers, frank -- "Sharpness is a bourgeois concept." -Henri Cartier-Bresson -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
