The resolution difference between 12MP and 14MP is trivial. You will
never actually see it in the real world.

I find the extra resolution helpful in terms of doing some hard crops. A lot of the pubs I work for ask a minimum size of 20 megabytes. I can turn a K7 horizontal in a vertical and still have more than 20 megabytes without interpolation.
