Hey Frank,

Since I happen to have 2 *ist D bodies along with the K-x I was able
to do the comparison you were wondering about. I tried with a
50/1.4, 50-135/2.8 and 400/5.6 lenses. For all practical
comparisons, they are very close. The *istD viewfinder seems just a
smidge larger, but only as I quickly switch between them. The K-x
viewfinder is a smidge brighter. Manually focusing (mostly what I
do) is about the same between them.

So if you were to get one, you would not be unhappy due to the
viewfinder. I think you would find loads of other things about the
K-x that are an improvement over the *istD.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.
