Thanks to Dan, Dominique, Peter, Bob, Paul, Frank the vegan, Bruce, Ecke, and Derby, and to everyone else who clicked through and were too stunned to say anything.

I was actually behind one of the many gates on ground level, like what was shown in the cowboy photograph. It's an ingenious series of barriers and channels patrolled by horse- and foot-mounted workers to facilitate movement, all of it fascinating to watch. The sales barn is located on a street I travel a couple times a day, and it's long been something I wanted to explore, so when I started this new project (local people doing local jobs), it was first on my list of places to visit. They were very nice, and gave me access to everything, once I introduced myself and they determined I wasn't a spy from PETA.

And let's face it, I really just wanted to try doing some, uh, stock photography.
