Thanks to Dan, Dominique, Peter, Bob, Paul, Frank the vegan, Bruce,
Ecke, and Derby, and to everyone else who clicked through and were too
stunned to say anything.
I was actually behind one of the many gates on ground level, like what
was shown in the cowboy photograph. It's an ingenious series of
barriers and channels patrolled by horse- and foot-mounted workers to
facilitate movement, all of it fascinating to watch. The sales barn is
located on a street I travel a couple times a day, and it's long been
something I wanted to explore, so when I started this new project
(local people doing local jobs), it was first on my list of places to
visit. They were very nice, and gave me access to everything, once I
introduced myself and they determined I wasn't a spy from PETA.
And let's face it, I really just wanted to try doing some, uh, stock
photography.
