Hi gang

I won't post the model number of the appliance in question here as
mail archive will surely give away my advice to the whole world via
Google but you can have it offlist if you care.

I picked up in the bay, actually by mistake/on impulse, an esata/usb
sata-II 4 disk soho raid box only to realize after the fact that it
supported a total capacity of 2tb rather than 2 tb per disk. Must have
been why it was so cheap, € 77.01 as opposed to € 769 new where still
available. Obviously it is an older box. I ended up calling the
manufacturer to find out if perhaps there was a firmware update to
increase capacity handling and he asked about my OS. Turns out that
when used with win7-64 via esata it will support 2 tb per disk after
all so I am a happy camper. Will be a while until I can afford four 2
tb disks but I can always start out with 2 as it supports raid 0, 1,
0+1, 5 and 5+spare =)
